What is Vargus Archive?

Vargus; a vast land of magic and monsters where demons roam and airships fly. A land that awaits the brave to discover its secrets and find glory. Simply put, Vargus is a Dungeons and Dragons setting.

I created this wiki site so that other D&D players can play campaigns in the Vargus setting. If not that, then I hope to inspire those who wish to make their own D&D settings. Or perhaps I only manage to provide some interesting setting lore to read. Whatever your reason for being here, traveler, I bid you welcome.

Why was Vargus Created?

I created Vargus out of sheer defiance. Seriously, that was the reason. I've never been terribly fond of official D&D lore; it always struck me as too black and white. My gripes with it are the same gripes I have with many other fantasy settings, where certain creatures are either evil or good and have to be that way.

This all started when I created a character who's a devil and wanted him to not be wholly evil. This was a problem since every setting I played in dictated that the character had to be pure evil simply because he's a devil.

So, I took matters into my own hands and created a setting of my own with lore that allowed for many traditionally evil creatures to have gray morality. Soon enough, it expanded into a developed enough setting to play D&D and write novels in, and I have been doing so ever since.

Who Created the Vargus Setting?

My name is Emily Himes, a student of Applied Media Communications at University of Cincinnati Blue Ash. I returned to college at age twenty-eight when I wanted to change career paths, and now hope to do web design professionally.

I've been playing Dungeons and Dragons for over a decade and have been writing fantasy even longer, so getting to use my passions to make media has been great. Thanks to my friends, family, and professors for putting up with my nonsense, since I wouldn't have made it this far without you all.
